Fortsum Business Solutions named finalist at the 2010 OCTAS contest

Montreal (Quebec), April 26, 2010 – Fortsum Business Solutions Inc. (Fortsum), a member of GFI Solutions Group Inc. (GFI) and a Canadian leader in IT consulting services and business and financial solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), is pleased to announce that it has been named a finalist at the 2010 OCTAS contest. The company has been acknowledged in the “Transformation of Organizational Processes” category for a project carried out with its client Prestilux.

As part of this project, Prestilux sought to improve its business processes by installing an SAP Business One ERP system equipped with an inventory planner, CRM and EDI systems. For this, the company had to convert a legacy AS/400 to a modern system which makes it possible to radically transform the company’s processes and sustain its growth with the help of the Internet. Seventeen years’ worth of data had to be migrated without compromising the distribution of some 4,000 products from various countries. Completed in 2009, the first phase of this extensive project has already resulted in substantial savings and has significantly improved the company’s efficiency and competitiveness. Last October, this very project was awarded first prize in the “Best Mid-Market Solutions” category of the CDN Channel Elite Awards.

Fortsum specializes in the development, technical support, implementation, integration and marketing of efficient, adaptable high-tech solutions for the daily management of the business and financial data of SMBs. It has more than 24,000 clients, located primarily in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes.

The OCTAS award is the most high-profile distinction in the Quebec IT sector. It recognizes information technology’s strategic contribution to Quebec’s economic and social development. The OCTAS contest highlights the creativity and dynamism of the players in this major 23-billion-dollar industry and rewards their excellence.

The OCTAS contest is an annual event organized by Réseau Action TI, the most important IT sector organization in Quebec. The names of the winners will be announced at the OCTAS Gala, which will be held on May 29, 2010, at the Centre des congrès de Québec.
