The Montréal firm establishes itself as a leader in the development of new payment technologies
Montréal, December 10, 2007 – GFI Solutions Inc., a Québec leader in IT consulting services for businesses, has announced the launch of its Payment Systems Development Centre (Centre de développement en systèmes de paiement – CDSP) in early January, at its offices in Montréal’s Cité Multimédia. Over the next two years, GFI Solutions plans to employ 60 experts, who will focus on the next generation of payment methods, including smart cards, contactless payment, and mobile payment.
By bringing together the tools and expertise required for the development of new payment systems, GFI Solutions will provide support for its clients, which consist of financial institutions and payment systems operators, in their migration toward these new technologies. GFI Solutions already works closely with Québec leading financial institutions, and its objective is to establish a long-term relationship with them by providing unique and distinct added value, and more importantly, by providing high-level expertise in the area of payment systems.
GFI currently operates one of the largest teams of experts in Canada who cover every aspect of payments. The CDSP will pursue three main objectives:
Conduct research and development programs that focus on the development of innovative payment solutions.
Offer related services, such as training, access to laboratories and simulators, carrying out studies, and monitoring of payment system developments.
Manage development and maintenance mandates for payment systems, within the context of long-term agreements.
The CDSP already boasts some fifteen experts, and expects to double its workforce by the end of 2008 as it works toward attaining the critical level of 60 resources by the end of 2009.
According to Alain Philippe, Vice-President of transactional services at GFI Solutions: “By opening this development centre, GFI Solutions is providing the entire financial community with access to many years of research and work in the area of payment systems, in order to share its expertise and create a truly dynamic and open user forum.”
The creation of the CDSP embraces the action plan that was adopted by the GFI Informatique group, a leading international player in the development of payment systems. In fact, its GFI Monetic business unit currently boasts more than 400 experts working in Europe and Canada.
